It is important to verify product grade before you purchase.
You may not need laboratory grade accessories, but know what grade and whether it has a rating or grade.
Nylon as well as most plastics or coated hardware performs better than unprotected metal hardware.
We use epoxy coated or teflon coated drawer guides for our custom lab cabinets.
Standard grades are: residential, light commercial, industrial, laboratory, and special.
Depending on the lab, accessories may not need to be lab grade.
Material and rated for use is important when selecting accessories for your lab when chemicals are in use.
- Lab Electrical Accessories or power options:
- Determine if lab grade is necessary if not chrome plated pedastals are acceptable.
- If chemicals are in use then deck or pedestal boxes (whether outlets are single, double faced outlets the boxes need to be aluminum or have clear coat epoxy or a teflon finish.
- Power strips or Plugmold (Wiremold Product) standard or alternating circuit, can be epoxy painted.
Do you need corrosion resistance pedastals or power strips?
If the answer is yes, then standard is not recommended.
Figure out the number out outlets in each area.
Determine or identify the plug type for each type of lab equipment.
Besure you have outlets that will fit your equipment's plug style.
Cover plate finish can be aluminum, epoxy coated, powder-coated or plastic.
Pedastal boxes, covers, and raceways can be powder-coated custom colors, too.
Plugmold outlet configurations for labs are usually 6 inch on center or 12 inch on center.
Computer and phone in a raceway must be isolated from power G4000 can do this.
Convenient, easier to modify raceways, work well in the lab, commercial and industrial applications.
Aluminum raceways are the most corrosion resistant, and common for industrials and some labs.
Explosion proof fixtures are specials EP(explosion proof) Lights are often in hoods EP Outlets are special EP (Explosion Proof) Fans are more common EP switches are needed for explosion proof equipment and areas.
Under-cabinet lighting for labs can improve safety In hoods small profile lights like (Little Inch)are important.

Fume Hood Accessories or options are listed with the fume hoods as so many options to select from.
Fume Hoods can have many unique accessories such as fixtures, alarms, slabs to improve air flow, side shelf units, and
lattice or monkey bars. Some manufacturers supply remote control fixtures as a standard, however, these cost extra so it
is best to order what you need. Remote fixtures can be added to existing hoods.
Cup sinks or regular sinks are often used in hoods.
Steam baths baths can be added.
Special electrical components can go in the hood, most prefer mounting on the side post or on the cabinet face in an isolated
chamber above the doors. Fixtures can be mounted in Fume Hood and control knobs can be on the base cabinets, but must be isolated.
Fume base cabinets can accept sinks, and acid bases can accept sinks, but never put a sink above a flammable as can not be cut into.
Extra care in planning and use if hood bases are for chemical storage.
Sinks in acid bases should be epoxy or scientific plastic, no metal tailpieces or piping. Also, it should be sealed except for
optional venting.
Vent kits often do venting of bases into hoods, it is still not considered best practice.
Venting to outdoors is the first choice and best practice, if venting is going to be needed.
Venting of flammable cabinets should be to outdoors if it is needed.
Flammable cabinets should not be vented in most cases, as that defeats purpose of self-closing fuse-link doors.
